Ekiti State Government has perfected plans to upgrade all its Technical Schools to keep up with world standard.
The Chairman, Board for Technical and Vocational Education in Ekiti, Hon. Kayode Babade gave this hint while further revealing that the Technical College in Ado-Ekiti has been adopted as a standard on how a technical college should look like in terms of infrastructure and equipment,”
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, Babade said the state government would invest well in the sector to achieve its set goal and meet the demands of the labour market.
Babade also identified technical education as major key towards improving the economy of the country.
According to him, all is set for the accreditation and reaccreditation of all its courses across its six technical and vocational training centres by National Board for Vocational and Technical Education (NABTEB).
“Government will commence the installation of the laboratory and workshop equipment at the technical college, Ado-Ekiti on Monday, April 29 and in fulfilment of the determination to resuscitate the colleges.
“For a government that wants to join the global technology league table, learning facilities in its technical schools should be regularly updated.” he said.
“Achieving technological advancement is not just playing to the gallery; it is about showing commitment and matching words with reality.
“The equipment when operational will enable the students to receive various training in vocational and technical subjects and prepare them to compete with favourably with their counterparts in the labour market.
“Very soon, the technical schools at Igbara-Odo, Ijero and Otun-Ekiti, in the first phase of its determination to make technical education a toast of all in the education sector will be upgraded to international standard.
He lauded the vision and mission of the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi to the resuscitation of all the technical schools in the state to develop the Youths in skill capacity building and acquisition to be self reliant.
He, however, added that government had also concluded arrangement to renovate all hostels and sports centres of all the colleges to make them more conducive for students.
He also said the technical schools are located across the 3 senatorial disricts in Ado-Ekiti and Ijero-Ekiti for Ekiti Central, Iluomoba-Ekiti and Igbara-Odo in Ekiti South, as well as Otun-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti in Ekiti North senatorial districts of the state.
